Are sweaty hands synonymous with a weak heart? – Sweaty palms even when not doing activity are often associated with symptoms of heart disease.
This stigma apparently is not entirely true. It’s a good idea to do an inspection first to be sure. Because, the cause of sweaty hands could be excess urea in the body.
The condition of sweaty hands is a sign of hyperhidrosis , which is a condition when a person sweats excessively even though they are not doing any activity or are hot.
Excessive sweating usually appears on the face, armpits and soles of the feet.
This condition of excessive sweating occurring in several of the areas above is not always a sign of disease.
“If someone experiences frequent sweaty hands, this has nothing directly to do with a weak heart condition,” emphasized the Heart and Blood Vessel Specialist at RSUD Dr. Iskak Tulungagung, dr. Adriyawawan Widya Nugraha, Sp. JP (K).
Adriyawan explained that a weak heart condition occurs when the heart muscle weakens so that it cannot pump blood throughout the body properly. There are many other definitions.
This condition of excessive sweaty hands is usually caused by several things. One of the most common causes is a psychological condition, such as anxiety or stress.
Stress and anxiety can increase heart rate and blood pressure and stimulate the body’s nerves which can increase sweat production.
The areas of the hands, soles of the feet, feet and face are locations that often experience excessive sweating. This happens because these areas have the most sweat glands.
Excessive sweating that only occurs occasionally and is temporary is not caused by a dangerous medical condition.
However, if this condition continues to occur accompanied by complaints of chest pain, shortness of breath, frequent chest pounding and weight loss, then this needs to be watched out for.
To confirm this condition, a complete examination by a doctor is required. The reason is, if the condition of excessive sweating is proven to be a disease, then the patient needs treatment or medication.
Here are some ways to deal with excessive sweating:
Control stress or conditions that can trigger anxiety
Do activities in cool places and wear clothes that easily absorb sweat
Avoid things that can stimulate sweat gland activity, smoking, taking drugs that can increase heart rate
“Sweaty hands are not always a sign of heart disease. “However, it would be better to see a doctor if the condition is accompanied by chest pain, shortness of breath and heart palpitations,” he concluded. (PR/KAR)
