Dysuria? Here’s an Easy Way to Deal With It  – Dysuria , medically called dysuria, is a disorder in the form of pain or burning during or after urination. This complaint is usually felt by people who have problems with the urinary tract.

There are several diseases that can cause symptoms of frequent urination , including urinary tract infections, bladder infections, kidney stones, prostate inflammation, bladder muscle cramps, and sexually transmitted diseases, such as gonorrhea and chlamydia. In women, frequent complaints of frequent urination can also be caused by vaginitis or  diabetes .

Complaints of pain when urinating can also appear after undergoing a medical procedure, such as circumcision, catheter installation , or surgery on the urinary tract. However, most cases of dysuria are symptoms of urinary tract infections .

Treating Dysuria at Home

Having a urinary tract infection is certainly very uncomfortable. In addition to being painful, urinary tract infections can make you go to the bathroom frequently because there is an urge to urinate, even though only a little urine comes out.

However, you don’t need to worry. To relieve the complaint of frequent urination at home, there are several simple ways that can be done, including:

1. Avoid holding in urine

Even though it hurts, keep urinating when the urge arises. Because if you hold your pee, bacteria will actually multiply more easily and make the complaint of dysuria worse.

By urinating, bacteria in the urinary tract will be removed from the body through urine.

2. Drink lots of water

It is recommended that you drink at least 8 glasses of water a day. In addition to preventing dehydration, drinking lots of water can also make you urinate more.

As mentioned before, bacteria in the urinary tract will be excreted through urine. So, the more urine you excrete, the more bacteria will be excreted.

3. Warm compress

Compressing the lower abdomen with a towel soaked in warm water can also be a way to relieve dysuria. Do this for 15 minutes, 3-4 times a day, until one of the symptoms of kidney disease in women feels better.

4. Pay attention to the food and drinks you consume

When experiencing complaints of frequent urination, there are several types of food and drink that should be avoided, namely:

  • Foods and drinks that contain caffeine, such as coffee, tea, and chocolate.
  • Foods and drinks containing artificial sweeteners.
  • Food and drinks that taste sour.
  • Spicy food.
  • Alcoholic beverages and

This is because these types of food and drink can irritate the urinary tract and bladder, making it difficult for dysuria to improve.

5. Wear loose and comfortable clothing

Bacteria thrive in warm, moist areas, so avoid wearing skinny jeans or tight pants as much as possible , at least until the urinary tract infection has cleared up.

Instead, wear loose-fitting skirts or pants, and wear cotton underwear that can absorb sweat well. This will maintain air circulation in sensitive areas, thus reducing bacterial growth.

6. Consume cranberries

Cranberries have long been used as a natural treatment for urinary tract infections, including to relieve the symptoms of dysuria. This is because cranberries contain a substance called proanthocyanidins. This substance functions to prevent bacteria that cause infections from sticking to the walls of the urinary tract, so it can relieve and prevent complaints of dysuria.

To get the benefits of cranberries, you can consume them directly or process them into juice. You can also consume cranberry extract which is now widely available.
